Firstly, I'm critiquing based on this being a more simplified drawing with a simplified background so I'm not going to judge it the same as something that is more consuming and complete. That being said, I think having the BJD photo as reference gave you a good start but I really like how you interpreted the character yourself. I think the way you used the palette was interesting. Most people probably would have used the yellow as a skin tone instead of red. I like that you went with the red, it immediately makes this drawing stand out because anything that deviants from the norm definitely draws (in your case positive) attention. Vision I marked down some because I can't tell if your background was purposely done the way you did it to tie in with other patterns used on the tattoo and shirt or if that's just coincidence. Originality I marked down because the pose itself is pretty common.

I think your technique is pretty awesome. The anatomy is really good considering your style. The neck is long but I like it. I love the face and how you drew it and the hair. My only nitpick is the right arm. Where is it? Maybe it's bent and resting on his hip, maybe they're an amputee, I don't know. Not trying to be a smart ass I promise ^^ I've done this myself. Drawing an arm and hand at that angle can sometimes look weird and so it seems better to leave it out, but try to bring the arm forward a bit more as if it's resting against their body and you might find that looks right.

I marked impact pretty high because quite frankly, I don't write critiques but I really like this drawing and so today I felt inspired to do it. I love the palette, the style in which you drew this and I feel like I'm nitpicking at it a bit to write this critique when honestly the only issue I really see is the arm. Overall I love this and now I want to enter your palette contest but I don't have an active tumblr heh. Good job and I love seeing some BJD art here.
